Another find by Mr. Ntinos Mpampakos in northwestern Greece, awaits its identification by aviation experts.
The landing gear part was found in a remote area in the mountainous region of northwestern Greece, off the beaten track and possibly belongs to a Spitfire.
During the Greek Civil War, 1946-1949, the Greek Royal Air Force used Spitfires against the Democratic Army (the Communist-backed military force) strongholds in the area.
